I have taken my home for granted. The Yarra Valley is one of the most beautiful attractions in Victoria, Australia yet I have barely seen it. I am going to make it my mission in life to thoroughly explore the Yarra Valley and hopefully share my experiences with you, as I will most likely need to arrange multiple visits to see it all. For the moment, I will go through the very little I have seen so far, which are literally Alowyn Gardens and the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery.

Alowyn Gardens

I am only aware of this stunning and elegant garden because my sister got married here, which I think is enough to suggest how gorgeous and romantic Alowyn Gardens is. The staff are super friendly and have the cutest dog that roams around innocently. Upon entry there is a charming little café where you pay the entry fee and perhaps relax with a coffee before or after wandering around the garden. The garden itself is utterly quaint. From the moment you enter the gardens, the intense green creating the archway is striking. You will encounter multiple forks in the paths as you weave in and around the garden to cover as much ground as possible. If you take the main path, it will expose you to the lovely lawn area, the prefect spot if you want to relax. If you’re observant, you could find yourself following really tiny paths that lead to secret mini gardens. There is also the edible section, full of growing fruit and veggies that are sold at the café area. It’s not a huge garden so it won’t take very long to see everything, and trust me, everything is worth seeing!

Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery

Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice CreameryYarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery is a fun place. Any ice-cream lovers out there will drool over the endless flavours they have. The store is filled with all things chocolate – boxes, bars, delectables, rocky road, freckles, coated freeze-dried strawberries (my favourite!), spreads, cocoa teas and coffees and spoon-fulls of free chocolate chips – milk, white and dark! They even sell chocolate body products, such as soaps, oils, creams, scrubs and lip balms as well as souvenirs; from shirts to hats and scarves. The place is never empty. Every year, they host the most epic Easter Egg Hunt for kids and families and things get pretty crazy! The best part is the picturesque hills of the Yarra Valley, which can be seen just outside the store in the spacious lawn area, where people are munching away at their sugary purchases. It’s not just for chocoholics. Anyone with a sweet tooth can enjoy the Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery! As they say, “Experiment it!”

It’s a little embarrassing that that’s all I have to say for the Yarra Valley right now. I can’t wait to see more of it and share my stories and reviews with you over time. It’ll be a recurring destination for the rest of my life! If you have any recommendations, you are welcome to share them in the comments box. Who knows…? They might end up in a future blog post!
