Solo travel is not for everyone. We all have our different styles, and each to their own. I have travelled alone, with family, with friends and with a boyfriend. All the different types of companions have its pros and cons. Today’s post will specifically focus on my top ten benefits of travelling alone.

  1. You don’t have to answer or explain yourself to anyone.
  2. You can travel at your own pace.
  3. You control your sleep times. If you want to sleep in, sleep in! If you want an early night, go ahead! If you want a late night, you’re not bothering anyone when you walk into your room at a ridiculous hour (assuming you have a room to yourself).
  4. It forces you to socialise and meet new people.
  5. You always get to choose what to eat.
  6. You learn to rely on yourself, be resourceful, self-sufficient and independent.
  7. Your confidence grows.
  8. Your self-awareness improves.
  9. You have time to reflect on the events of the day, including time for self-reflection.
  10. Ultimately, you are free to do whatever the hell you want (as long as you’re not judging or hurting anyone)!
