It took me a while to get here…

After being prompted by an enticing flyer in the mail (yep…old school communication still works), I eagerly waited for the monthly market that is Merrifield Farmer’s Market. The thing is; it only runs on every 4th Saturday of each month. I received the flyer in late June, missed July as I was in the USA, got the date wrong in August (it’s so unlike me…I was very disappointed in myself) and then finally made it in September!

It was a glorious Saturday morning, so perhaps the delay was destiny. The sky was boldly blue, the fresh grass was as green as spring can get and the sun warmed our faces as we cheerfully wandered through the market. Vendors were busying about in their stalls as excited customers made their purchases. The best thing about farmer’s markets is the strong community vibe. All the stalls were local businesses and we made an effort to show our support through buying their products. Shout out to Sarah Clare Designs for her lovely hand-made jewellery. Cheers for the cute earrings, as pictured below, from Sarah Clare Design’s Instagram!

You can’t go to a farmer’s market without filling your bellies! Both my sister and I share a love for Europe so we made an immediate stop at France At Home Australia, indulging in a sweet and puffy blueberry danish. After working up an appetite from all the walking (and running after my nephew!) we continued our European food affair with Athens Voice GR.

Merrifield Farmer’s Market is super family and pet friendly. There’s plenty of space for dogs and many people brought their adorable fur-babies. For the kids, there’s face-painting, story-telling, animal feeding, and the lovely ladies from Mini Maestros. On top of all that, a children’s’ playground is within walking distance from the market!

It’s the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning and personally, a delightful way to start my spring!
